The Mockingbird Farm herd includes a bull, eight cows and their offspring.
I raise Devons, a heritage beef breed that thrives in pasture. All the meat I sell comes from animals born on my farm and raised on pasture. During the winter months I feed organic hay. I don’t feed grain. I’ve never yet administered antibiotics, though I am committed to providing appropriate vet care to my animals.
Since my animals are grass-fed and grass-finished, I generally raise them for at least two years. The result is lean, flavorful beef, raised without the use of sub-therapeutic antibiotics or growth hormones.
